Questions and Answers
Below are just a few questions we are often asked by guests.
Does the Lodge have onsite car parking? As the hotel is situated within the Cathedral Grounds, car parking is very limited; therefore parking is not guaranteed and needs to be pre-booked before you arrive.
What if there is no car parking available? If in the event we have no car parking spaces left, we are able to offer a reduced cost parking voucher, valid in local car parks for £6.00 for 24hours or £1.50 for overnight (6pm-10am). Car parking vouchers can be booked and paid for online and picked up on check-in. Guests are welcome to come into the Cathedral Grounds to drop off luggage and pick up their parking voucher at reception. Please buy 1 voucher per 24hr Stay.
Where is the nearest public car park? The nearest car park to the Cathedral ground is the Queningate car park with 102 spaces. Within the middle of this car park there is a Cathedral security gate where you can enter the Cathedral grounds. Other nearby car parks are: Longport (105) / Castle Row (87) / Pound Lane (148) /St Radigunds (304). Reception can given you a map and directions to these car parks on check-in.
What time is check-in and check-out? Check in is from 3pm and check out is at 11am. If you require an earlier check-in or check-out, please speak to our reception desk and we will do everything we can to try to accommodate your request.
Does the restaurant open for dinner? Lunch and dinner is only available for event or group bookings. For individual guests there are many restaurants in Canterbury, just outside the Cathedral grounds, many of which offer Lodge guests a discount. Guests will be given a list of restaurants offering a discount on arrival.
Do we get access into the Cathedral? Hotel residents benefit from free entrance to Canterbury Cathedral worth £10.50 per person.
Can we get in to the Cathedral grounds late at night? Yes, guests can enter and exit the Cathedral grounds 24 hours using their valid guest pass. After 9pm guests are required to ring the bell outside the main Cathedral gate and security will open the gate especially to allow you entrance to the private grounds.
Can you take photos in the Cathedral? Photography is permitted (except in the Crypt and during Services) – but for your own personal use only. Any commercial / stock library photography must be agreed in advance by the Cathedral and is subject to a fee.
Is there a safe in the bedroom? No unfortunately we don’t have safes in the rooms, although if you have anything valuable, please speak with reception.
Is there a mini fridge in the bedroom? No, however if you have medication that you need to refrigerate, then please speak with a member of the team and we can arrange storage for you.
